The base 'Mercury' (without sub-name) was Mercury's standard Mercury through several early postwar years — a single-trim full-size offering before Mercury split its lineup into Custom, Monterey, Montclair, and Park Lane trim names. These base postwar Mercurys (1939–1950) are some of the most popular customizer and lead-sled platforms.
