The Ford F-Series has been America's best-selling pickup truck since 1977 and the best-selling vehicle of any kind in America since 1981. The classic-era F-Series catalog spans seven distinct generations: the 1948–52 first-generation 'F-1' light-duty postwar trucks, the 1953–56 'F-100' second generation, the 1957–60 third generation with its Styleside bed option, the 1961–66 fourth generation (including the unibody pickups of 1961–63), the 1967–72 'bumpside' and 'highboy' fifth generation, the 1973–79 'dentside' sixth generation, and the 1980–96 'bullnose' and 'bricknose' seventh generation.
