Auto City Classic - Monte Carlo
The Chevrolet Monte Carlo (1970–88, then revived 1995–2007) was Chevy's personal-luxury coupe — a sister car to the Pontiac Grand Prix and Buick Regal, built on the GM A-body and later G-body chassis. The 1970–72 first-generation cars with their long hoods, vinyl roofs, and available SS454 powertrain are particularly desirable. The 1973–77 Colonnade-bodied second generation sold in enormous numbers, and the 1981–88 G-body cars — especially the SS aero coupes and the rare Monte Carlo SS Aerocoupe — have a strong following thanks to their NASCAR homologation roots.
Most Monte Carlo restoration projects involve the 1970–72 first generation, the 1973–77 second generation, and the 1978–88 G-body third- and fourth-generation cars including the SS. Reproduction body, glass, weatherstrip, and interior components are widely available.
